An outstanding example of classic American muscle, this beautifully presented 1971 Buick Skylark Custom 2-Door Hardtop has been tastefully transformed into a tribute to the legendary Buick GSX and presents as a rare opportunity to own a big-block Buick here in Australia.

The Buick Skylark GSX (Gran Sport Experimental) was a legendary muscle car of the 70's. Famous for its massive torque and "hood tach," the GSX Stage 1 was a Hemi-killer—clocking low-13-second quarter-miles despite weighing nearly 2,000 kgs.

The GSX Tribute is presented in the original Bamboo Cream and this is complemented by a beautifully preserved Sandalwood interior. As per the GSX option, the owner has added the correct black body stripes, a front air dam, a rear decklid spoiler and an unique hood-mounted tachometer. On the inside the GSX is fitted with bolstered bucket seats, a floor console and a Rallye steering wheel. The Skylark retains much of its original character while benefiting from carefully considered upgrades that enhance both performance and drivability.

Originally a Phoenix Arizona car and built as a factory 350ci 4-barrel V8 Skylark Custom, the car now features a period-correct Buick 455ci big-block V8 powered through a Turbo 350 automatic transmission. The GSX tribute was completed using numerous genuine GSX components sourced from the United States, creating a highly authentic representation of Buick's iconic 70's muscle car.

The heart of this Skylark is a professionally rebuilt 455ci Buick big-block V8, comprehensively rebuilt by the renowned Kelly's Machine Shop in Phoenix, Arizona in December 2020 for its long-term American owner of more than 20 years. The rebuild included new high performance pistons and rods, performance camshaft, valve train components, bearings, oil pump and extensive machining work, with the rotating assembly professionally balanced for reliability and performance. The Buick has covered 2,500 miles since the full mechanical rebuild.

Finished in factory Bamboo Cream with a Sandalwood interior, this GSX Tribute perfectly captures the style and spirit of Buick's legendary muscle car. With its professionally rebuilt 455ci V8, documented history and recent mechanical upgrades, it offers the look, sound and performance of a GSX at a fraction of the price.

Equipped with working air conditioning, power steering an original Buick 8 track radio/stereo plus an aftermarket CD/stereo system, this Skylark is a comfortable and effortless cruiser. And the numerous genuine GSX components sourced from the USA enhance its authenticity and presence.

The GSX is riding on near new 225/70R14 Cooper Cobra G/T radial tyres that have been recently aligned and balanced.

Personally imported to Australia by the current owner in 2023 from Arizona, the Skylark has recently benefited from a brake system overhaul, a complete front end suspension upgrade, a new dual exhaust system fitted in 2024 and the addition of thermo fans to complement the original mechanical flex fan for dependable summer cruising.

A rare opportunity to own a beautifully presented and highly authentic Buick Skylark GSX Tribute with proven reliability and outstanding road presence.
