A rare opportunity to acquire a 1973 Chrysler VJ Charger 770 E55 340ci, one of just 212 produced, and reportedly 1 of only 4 built in this paint and trim combination. This exceptionally original and unmolested example is now offered for sale from Williamstown, VIC, complete with its original logbooks.

Powered by its matching-numbers 340ci V8 and highly desirable 850 cfm Thermoquad four-barrel carburettor, this Charger represents one of the most sought-after VJ E55 specifications. Unlike many E55 Chargers that were modified for drag racing over the years, this example remains remarkably close to its original factory specification.

The car retains an impressive array of original components, including:
  • Correct Thermoquad carburettor with functioning choke
  • Original radiator shroud and clutch fan
  • Original air cleaner
  • Original carpet, hood lining, boot mat and crash pad
  • Original radiator and exhaust manifolds
  • Correct twin-outlet tailpipe extensions

Highly optioned from new, the Charger features:
  • C16 – Automatic console shift
  • A74 – Protection Pack
  • A97 – Convenience Pack
  • H51 – Factory air conditioning with tinted glass
  • S77 – Power steering
  • T15 – ER70 H14 radial tyres
  • W35 – 14x7 alloy wheels

The car received a quality exterior repaint approximately 20 years ago and has been owned by the current custodian for around two decades. Throughout this time, it has been garaged, carefully maintained and preserved.

Recent mechanical work includes new 205/70 Aquatread Redwall tyres, flexible brake lines, master cylinder and suspension components including bushes, tie rods, pitman arm and idler arm. Koni shocks are fitted all-round.

The vehicle has been converted to manual steering while retaining its original power steering pump.
This VJ 340 Charger presents as a stunning, original, turn-key example of Australian muscle car history, offering genuine rarity, originality and collector appeal.

Available for inspection by appointment in Williamstown, VIC. (Ref: 6858)

Australia and New Zealand-wide transport can be arranged, and video inspections via WhatsApp are welcomed for interstate and international buyers.

Terms of sale

Vehicles offered for sale through AMCS are the responsibility of the Owner / Seller. AMCS acts as the Seller's agent and relies fully on the information provided by the Seller of the vehicle in the advertising and sale of each vehicle. AMCS takes no responsibility for the accuracy or veracity of the information provided by the Seller.

When a Buyer wishes to speak to the owner or inspect a vehicle listed for sale on the AMCS web site, AMCS will request a copy of the potential buyers driver's license or a business card along with an email address and phone number. This is provided to the seller as confirmation of the legitimacy of the buyer and the seller is then asked to contact the potential buyer to discuss the car and set up an inspection if required.

The Buyer must make his own enquiries and inspections regarding the condition, authenticity and veracity of the vehicle and any statements made by the Seller, and satisfy themselves in all aspects prior to purchasing the car from the Seller. The Buyer understands there is no warranty or guarantee offered by either the Seller or AMCS.

If upon inspection the Buyer is not satisfied with the car for any reason and does not wish to proceed with the purchase the owner is advised and any personal details are deleted from AMCS records.

If the Buyer is satisfied with the car and a price is agreed to with the Seller a formal tax invoice is prepared by AMCS and sent to the Buyer for payment to the AMCS audited Trust Account. AMCS also receives a formal Bill of Sale from the owner stating the car is free of encumbrance and noting banking details for the transaction. Once AMCS receives the total payment cleared into its trust account a transfer is then made to the Seller.

AMCS receives a fee of 8.5% (incl. GST) of the sale price for assisting the Seller to sell the vehicle. There is no fee or Buyer's premium charged to the Buyer.
