1973 Holden HQ Statesman DeVille 350 V8
Rivalling Ford's Fairlane for a share of the domestic luxury car market, the Holden Statesman proved to be a great success for GMH. Having a Statesman parked in the driveway was a real status symbol back in the 1970s. And let's not to forget that the extended wheelbase afforded plenty of extra legroom for rear seat passengers.
Ordered from Motors Pty Ltd in Hobart, Tasmania, this Statesman was ordered without Air-conditioning or power windows. Obviously due to the colder climate of Tassy and the fact that the original owner wanted the power of the big 350 V8 to be undiminished by unnecessary optional extras. The original owner did however tick the box for the sought after T-bar automatic shifter.
350 Statesman DeVilles are now few on the ground and the HQ model is the most sought after of the model. Add to that a Statesman in one of the most desirable HQ colours restored by arguably the country's best restorer and you are onto a sure winner. This no expense full bare metal, chassis off body resto was completed by Munster Muscle in 2023. Starting with a phenomenally solid body, the Munster Muscle team painted the 350 in factory Covert Metallic in 2 pack clear over base. The finish is truly extraordinary. Mechanically the resto has included the blue printing and balancing of the matching numbers 350 motor, rebuilding all original parts including the date code correct Rochester carby, rebuilding the T-400 gearbox and 3.08 ratio LSD Salisbury diff, plus fitting a full stainless exhaust front to back.
The owner purchased this rare 350 Statesman from the second owner in Tasmania 20 years ago and a running driving car. Following the meticulous restoration, the owner has now decided to part with this amazing piece of Holden motoring history.
Many Australians have fond memories of the HQ Statesmans and these classic 1970s luxury sedans have a strong following today and represent the pinnacle of Australian luxury motoring for the day.

Vehicles offered for sale through AMCS are the responsibility of the Owner / Seller. AMCS acts as the Seller's agent and relies fully on the information provided by the Seller of the vehicle in the advertising and sale of each vehicle. AMCS takes no responsibility for the accuracy or veracity of the information provided by the Seller.
When a Buyer wishes to speak to the owner or inspect a vehicle listed for sale on the AMCS web site, AMCS will request a copy of the potential buyers driver's license or a business card along with an email address and phone number. This is provided to the seller as confirmation of the legitimacy of the buyer and the seller is then asked to contact the potential buyer to discuss the car and set up an inspection if required.
The Buyer must make his own enquiries and inspections regarding the condition, authenticity and veracity of the vehicle and any statements made by the Seller, and satisfy themselves in all aspects prior to purchasing the car from the Seller. The Buyer understands there is no warranty or guarantee offered by either the Seller or AMCS.
If upon inspection the Buyer is not satisfied with the car for any reason and does not wish to proceed with the purchase the owner is advised and any personal details are deleted from AMCS records.
If the Buyer is satisfied with the car and a price is agreed to with the Seller a formal tax invoice is prepared by AMCS and sent to the Buyer for payment to the AMCS audited Trust Account. AMCS also receives a formal Bill of Sale from the owner stating the car is free of encumbrance and noting banking details for the transaction. Once AMCS receives the total payment cleared into its trust account a transfer is then made to the Seller.
AMCS receives a fee of 8.5% (incl. GST) of the sale price for assisting the Seller to sell the vehicle. There is no fee or Buyer's premium charged to the Buyer.
