The ONE AND ONLY A9X Torana sedan finished in the rare factory colour of Madeira Red with Chamois Golf ball trim! A superb, two owner log booked and documented A9X, Build No. 148 is presented in magnificent condition throughout. For sale from our Sydney Showroom.

One of only 405 A9X Toranas produced, this is one of the much desired 2nd production run featuring the wider flares and 3:08 diff. Of the 405 A9Xs built, Holden released 305 sedans and 100 Hatchbacks of which only ONE Madeira Red sedan and three A9X Hatchbacks were built.

Build No. 148 was originally sold through Webster Motors P/L in Midland, WA and is supplied with full ownership history with the original log books confirming all the important numbers of the Torana. The Torana has been a member of the A9X Club of Australia.

This is an accident free example of the A9X. The Torana has been repainted in acrylic paint in 2009 and retains the original absolutely immaculate Chamois interior. The A9X has had the typical 1980s treatment with widened originals wheels, modified engine bay while retaining the original block and replacement of the M21 with a Super T10 4 speed gearbox using a Centreforce clutch, modified Hurst Speedway shifter and the standard 10 bolt Salisbury diff with 3.55 gears and a steel 4-pinion LSD.

Mechanically, the original 308 was rebuilt with 10:1 forged pistons, Scat rods, a Crane CC288 solid cam, Yella Terra heads and roller rocker, an Edelbrock single-plane intake manifold and Holley 750 DP carby. The engine bay has been detailed to show standards of the day with alloy rocker covers and a polished cold air box modelled off Allan Grice's Craven Mild race A9X. Exhaust exits through H&M extractors leading to a twin 21/2"mandrel bent system with Sonic Turbo mufflers.

The interior is all original in Chamois with original seat trims, carpets, gauges and dash. The steering wheel shows nil wear and the A9X is fitted with an LX SS centre console to cover the Super T-10 bump and house the stereo system and Autometer oil and water temperature gauges.

Braking is via the standard 4 wheel discs and the Tory still retains the two piece front spoiler and brake cooling ducts. The suspension features Koni shocks all round, KMac sway bars and Selby springs along with a period style drop tank and widened genuine A9X rims with Nankang 225/50R15s on the front and 265/50R15s on the rear. There is a Hotwire spare, boot matt and jack in the boot.

A one owner car from 1978 until 2017 when it was sold at a Shannons Sydney auction, the current owner has enjoyed this special A9X as part of a serious Aussie muscle car collection and has now decided the time has come to sell his collection.

The A9X is supplied with the original owners log books.

This is definitely the pinnacle of Holden performance, representing the birth of HDT. It is a car solidly etched into our motor racing history. A rich history of Brock and Firth, Richards, Harvey, Grice, Morris, Perkins ... the names synonymous with victory spelt simply in the name - Torana.

AMCS acts as the Seller's agent and relies fully on the information provided by the Seller of the vehicle in the advertising and sale of each vehicle. AMCS takes no responsibility for the accuracy or veracity of the information provided by the Seller.

When a Buyer wishes to speak to the owner or inspect a vehicle listed for sale on the AMCS web site, AMCS will request a copy of the potential buyers driver's license or a business card along with an email address and phone number. This is provided to the seller as confirmation of the legitimacy of the buyer and the seller is then asked to contact the potential buyer to discuss the car and set up an inspection if required.

If upon inspection the Buyer is not satisfied with the car for any reason and does not wish to proceed with the purchase the owner is advised and any personal details are deleted from AMCS records.

If the Buyer is satisfied with the car and a price is agreed to with the Seller a formal tax invoice is prepared by AMCS and sent to the Buyer for payment to the AMCS audited Trust Account. AMCS also receives a formal Bill of Sale from the owner stating the car is free of encumbrance and noting banking details for the transaction. Once AMCS receives the total payment cleared into its trust account a transfer is then made to the Seller.

AMCS receives a fee of 8.5% (incl. GST) of the sale price for assisting the Seller to sell the vehicle. There is no fee or Buyer's premium charged to the Buyer.
