Ford promoted the XR Falcon as the ‘Mustang-bred Falcon’ and the facelifted XT, accompanied by wild horses as having ‘More…More Mustang!’ The facelift itself was minor but the big change was upping the ante from the Windsor 289 to the 302 V8. For sale is this fully restored XT Falcon running a rebuilt 302 V8. For sale from Epping, NSW.

If you are looking for a really nice example of the XT Falcon you really can't look past this XT Falcon stunner. What started life as a mild mannered Polar White 6 cylinder Falcon has now morphed into something quite special. The focus here was to build an understated but super tidy stock looking Falcon while hiding a pleasant surprise under the bonnet and giving the XT a splash of GT styling with the chrome full wheel covers and comfortable buckets seats and GT style steering wheel on the inside.

Starting with a very solid original XT Falcon complete with the original owners manual and log books, the retired old school panel beater owner launched into a full body and mechanical rebuild. The work started with a full repaint to the exterior in 2 pack Sky Blue in 2018. The body was rotisserie bare metal restored, the chrome was polished and the engine bay fully detailed.

Then the focus shifted under the bonnet. A Windsor 302 was sourced from a ZD Fairlane. The engine was fully rebuilt and features flat top pistons, a hydraulic flat tappet cam, a Rollmaster timing set, Mellings oil pump, a Holley 650 carburettor and Pacemaker extractors through to a dual 2 1/2" exhaust system. The engine was then balanced and dyno tuned.

Gears are swapped through a GT 4 speed Top Loader gear box with single plate clutch, a balanced flywheel and balanced tail shaft and through to a 8 3/4" LSD.

The front end has also been fully rebuilt with disc brakes on the front and drums at the rear.

On the inside, bucket seats have been fitted and the interior is trimmed in the correct Medium Blue vinyl. The original dash has been retained and a 6,000 tacho, Temp and Oil pressure gauges fitted. There is also an XT GT style wood rimmed steering wheel plus new carpets, hood lining, front and rear seat belts and an aftermarket Radio/Cassette player fitted.

The XT is riding on genuine 14" steel rims with restored GS/GT chrome hubcaps and new white walled tyres.

The XT comes with a huge photo and receipt file covering the bare metal restoration and also the mechanical rebuild.
