1972 Holden LJ Torana GTR XU1 - Glacier White
You can't escape the memories of Brockie and Bathurst just walking around an LJ Torana XU-1. Just sitting in the car takes you back to the heyday of motor racing in the early 1970s. The great battle of David and Goliath - Holden versus Ford and Moffat versus Brock. You can still see the XU-1s battling it out in the rain in 1972 and famously taking the Hardie Ferodo 500 Bathurst flag at the end of the day. Brock's first of nine Bathurst wins and the legendary Torana that beat the great Falcon GTHO Phase 3.
FOR SALE from our SYDNEY SHOWROOM is this November built 1972 LJ GTR XU-1 presented in beautiful rust and damage free Glacier White acrylic paint with the factory Black interior. Repainted approximately 20 years ago from the factory Zodiac Blue, this XU-1 presents the savvy buyer a great opportunity to purchase a genuine XU-1 at a bargain price due to the change from the original paint colour.
Originally built at the Acacia Ridge, Brisbane plant, the XU-1 was sold new by M. Hunt Motors, Canterbury Road, Lakemba, NSW in December, 1972. Fitted with a period correct and matching numbers rebuilt JP XU-1 engine, date correct XU-1 head, correct distributor, exhaust manifold, brake booster, brake proportioning valve, rocker cover and oil cap, heater box, correct horns, battery tray and original style exhaust with the correct twin outlet tail pipes. And that wonderful Premium 98 is still pumped through this little beasts veins with the original numbers correct triple 175 CD Strombergs. Gears are swapped through the original reconditioned M20 gearbox and the 3.36:1 ratio Banjo limited slip diff.
The interior is retrimmed in the original 40X black vinyl with new door cards, sun visors and seat belts with original gauges, steering wheel and optional factory AM radio with speaker on the parcel shelf. The original door cards are supplied with the car.
The tailshaft, brakes, suspension have all been serviced and rebuilt where necessary, the rear main seal was replaced 12 months ago and the Strombergs have been tuned by an old school mechanic.
Open the boot and the correct Bathurst tank is in place with XU-1 fuel line, fuel line clips, boot floor dimple and spare wheel anchor point. The XU-1 is riding on CSA Globe Sprintmaster wheels and good rubber. There is also a spare CSA Globe in the boot.
According to the current enthusiast owner of the past nine years, this XU-1 is a great driver. Super reliable and powerful enough to take on Bulli Pass on the South side of Sydney in top gear.
Showing 43,532 miles, the XU-1 is supplied with a Holden letter of Authenticity, an independent Torana expert inspection report, Fiv Antoniou's excellent Torana guide book, XU-1 manual, LJ Workshop manual, two sets of keys and some usage history.
The Torana is full NSW registered until December 2024 and comes with personalised NSW number plates XUI-123 which are included if sold in NSW.

Vehicles offered for sale through AMCS are the responsibility of the Owner / Seller. AMCS acts as the Seller's agent and relies fully on the information provided by the Seller of the vehicle in the advertising and sale of each vehicle. AMCS takes no responsibility for the accuracy or veracity of the information provided by the Seller.
When a Buyer wishes to speak to the owner or inspect a vehicle listed for sale on the AMCS web site, AMCS will request a copy of the potential buyers driver's license or a business card along with an email address and phone number. This is provided to the seller as confirmation of the legitimacy of the buyer and the seller is then asked to contact the potential buyer to discuss the car and set up an inspection if required.
The Buyer must make his own enquiries and inspections regarding the condition, authenticity and veracity of the vehicle and any statements made by the Seller, and satisfy themselves in all aspects prior to purchasing the car from the Seller. The Buyer understands there is no warranty or guarantee offered by either the Seller or AMCS.
If upon inspection the Buyer is not satisfied with the car for any reason and does not wish to proceed with the purchase the owner is advised and any personal details are deleted from AMCS records.
If the Buyer is satisfied with the car and a price is agreed to with the Seller a formal tax invoice is prepared by AMCS and sent to the Buyer for payment to the AMCS audited Trust Account. AMCS also receives a formal Bill of Sale from the owner stating the car is free of encumbrance and noting banking details for the transaction. Once AMCS receives the total payment cleared into its trust account a transfer is then made to the Seller.
AMCS receives a fee of 7.5% (incl. GST) of the sale price for assisting the Seller to sell the vehicle. There is no fee or Buyer's premium charged to the Buyer.
