1985 Holden HDT VK Calais Director 333 Pack - 5.0 Litre V8
Here is another example of Peter Brock's magic touch. A very original and beautifully presented VK Calais BUILT by Holden as a 333 Pack (5 Litre and Trimatic Auto) and then given some Brock SOUL by the boys at HDT at Beatie Street in Melbourne. For sale is a stunning VK HDT Calais Director Build No. 1999 in Cedar with Copper Velour trim. On display in our Sydney Showroom for your inspection.
HDT #1999 was built in March, 1985 at the Elizabeth, SA Holden plant and sent to HDT at Bertie Street, Melbourne, for conversion to a Brock Calais Director and delivered to Suttons Arncliffe in Sydney for the original owner. One of 28 Cedar VK HDT Calais Directors badged by HDT, these cars are becoming thin on the ground. Presented in totally unmodified condition, Brock Calais #1999 features the original L31 V8 engine modified by HDT with the SS big valve heads, exhaust headers, SS distributor and SS air cleaner. In addition, the HDT package included Bilstein shocks, a 14mm rear sway bar, Momo steering wheel, driver's foot rest, HDT build plate, We Build Excitement rear window sticker and HDT tyre placard.
In addition to these HDT improvements, the owner chose to tick the box for the super rare and pricey 16x7" HDT CENTRA wheels with Pirelli P7 225/50x16 tyres. He also added the 90 Litre long range fuel tank, upgraded to 130/90w headlight globes and opted for the Cobra Ultra Sonic alarm. The original owner also chose to delete the HDT colour coded bumpers and side skirts opting to leave the Calais with the factory silver trim finish. Standard kit for the luxury Calais 333 pack included some nice gear including the near perfect condition Copper velour interior, an Eurovox 5 speaker sound system with joystick control (now replaced with a Kenwood stereo), the factory working Electronic dash, working air conditioning, power steering, power windows, cruise control, central locking, under bonnet light, power mirrors and power aerial.
Currently showing 149,576 KILOMETRES from new, this three owner Calais Director comes with all HDT documentation, Suttons order form, HDT Letter of Authenticity and an excerpt from Chris Sewell's official BROCK Commodore Bible showing build details.
The Brock has been repainted in 2 pack while the interior is still day one. The current owner has recently had the Air-conditioning rebuilt with new a new compressor fitted. Otherwise, the HDT Calais has been lovingly maintained and serviced with the last service completed in February 2024.
The Calais Director is riding on Falken 225/50R16 tyres and there is an original spare and factory tools, spare wheel tie down and original boot mat.
Now ready for the next caretaker, this rare Calais Director is a pleasure to drive, is super reliable and has that wonderful V8 burble from the Brock exhaust. A great cruiser that still has the power to push you back in your seat and the looks to turn heads as it drives on by.
Body by Holden. Soul by Brock!
